I am totally impressed about the Nokia City Lens application.

How does the Nokia Lumia City Lens app work?

Nokia Lumia City Lens app detects shops, restaurants, etc. by scanning the visual environment. But how can it detect shops or anything by only scanning visual information? Because we need a 360 degree view to detect a location. Because we can't simply match visual information and get that data. The visuals will change proportionally with distance and angle. So how does this app match the location and retrieve the information?

  • Can anyone explain the concept
  • What technology or algorithm is used in this app?
